Fun Fact: It's my anniversary. Ryan and I have been a couple for 6 years.
In other news, I thought of something I wanted to write about. Whee.
I'm listening to books on audio. I've gotten through 42 at the moment. So here are my three all time favorite books. These haven't changed, and probably won't.
3. Dune
I kind of hate the movie. I didn't expect much when I started reading it because of that, but I fell in love with the world, the characters, and the cultures of Arrakis and beyond. The relationships between people and politics are so much more nuanced and refined than they are in the movie. The characters are so much richer, deeper and more dimensional. The book is amazing.
Rewatched the movie since reading it. I don't hate it anymore. It's still kind of bad though.
2. Wuthering Heights
It's probably the most haunting romance ever. I love the writing style. I love the storytelling. And I love that the romance is not sappy and mushy. It's cruel, angry, frustrated love that sounds completely miserable to be in, but at the same time echoes your own feelings if you've ever loved someone you can't imagine being without.
...And I'm a girl. Sometimes.
1. The Count of Monte Cristo
If you saw the movies, you still don't know what the Count of Monte Cristo is. It's a very long book, but so much happens, the landscape constantly changes, and so many characters populate the world, it doesn't feel like a long book to me. I'm meaning to listen to this one again sometime soon.
