So Blizzcon kicked my ass.
More pictures are on Flickr.
Ryan and I spent last weekend at Blizzcon. Most of the time, we watched the tournaments for Starcraft II, which were REALLY impressive! Day9, Artosis and Tasteless did awesome commentary. I've known of all three commentators before this, so it was really cool to see them broadcasting in person. My favorite Starcraft match was between Boxer and FruitDealer - which wasn't part of the main tournament. My favorite tournament match was definitely Loner and Nextgenius - the final tournament. The two contenders were so evenly matched and precise it was amazing to see them outwit each other. The Warcraft 3 tournaments were kind of awful though. One went for an hour and a half overtime - it was a slow awful stalemate.
I'm really looking forward to the new custom maps they'll be putting out, especially Starjeweled.

The Blizzcon website has lots of pictures of the events, especially the costume and dance contest.
And Tenacious D was dude, totally awesome.
My car started falling apart a little driving home. The splash guard dragged on the drive all the way back, and a headlight went out. Both of which are fixed now.
The drive also made me realize that LA is not that far away, nor is San Diego. The drive is very tolerable, and doesn't quite eat up the whole day. Maybe some conventions in SoCal are possible. I'd much prefer to drive to a con, able to bring my own shit, rather than fly where I'm limited with bags and charge much more for shipping. And with my hybrid, I can't argue with the $60 round trip cost! Much better than 150 plus baggage, and the ache of being on someone else's resources.
